The class has three main goals:

• Introduce students to computational methods and tools for inferring meaningful quantities from large-scale datasets. We will focus primarily on large online information systems in social settings and social media/networks in particular.
• Encourage critical, yet constructive, thinking about algorithms and information systems in social online settings.
• Provide formal training in conducting research in Computational Social Science.
